Candle Cup

I love to have my home filled with the scent of burning candles.  I’ve been collecting vintage tea cups, cut glass tumblers and glass jelly moulds in the hope of getting round to making my own candles. Not only do they look cute, they also make the perfect gift for friends and family!

Here are a few simple steps on how to make your own and what you will need…

* A pouring pot or saucepan

* A thermometer

* 1 pound of palm wax

* Aromatherapy scents of your choice

* Candle wicks

* Fill the pouring pot or saucepan with the wax and heat until it reaches 85 oc

* Choose the tea cup or holder that you’d like to use for the candle
* Add your chosen scent to the melted wax. It’s lovely to mix different scents together
* Fill your tea cup or chosen holder to the top and wait for 5 minutes
* Insert the wicked into the middle of the candle wax
* To ensure that the wick stays in the centre of the candle, use a bamboo stick. Make sure that you remove it after a few minutes to prevent an indent being create. The candle now needs to be left for a few hours until it is completely solid.
* The wick can now be trimmed to about 0.5”
* Light your candle and enjoy!
