Underground

So, many of you may be asking yourself what is so interesting about the underground service…well, this! These simply stunning images are from the underground system in Moscow, Russia. This form of transport is dubbed ‘the people’s palaces’ with, what can only be described, as the most ornate mode of getting around in the world! If you’re lucky enough to ever travel the underground, you’ll be met by shining examples of Soviet art and style, including bronze sculptures, chandeliers, Florentine mosaics and stained glass.

Truly breathtaking, I’m sure you’ll agree….

Decadent Sphere

I was met by this stunning image while I was scrolling through a blog that I regularly follow myself. The image comes from the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and graces the cafe within the historic building.

I love how the combination of old and new from the decadent ceiling and light spheres joins so perfectly together. I think this would be an idyllic atmosphere to soak up the visual delights that the V&A has to offer…

Magical

This crystal drop chandelier is magical. The gold accents from the full length gilt mirror with the metallic plant tray compliments the glowing light. I really like the combination of old and new in this dining room, perfectly balanced and welcoming.

Happy Thursday!

Hues of Floral

…A beautiful mixed media painting in metallics and pastels and a fresh white blossom tree…both remind me of a warm spring day…the pop of colour on the crisp white sofa is bought to life with the soft glow of the vintage cut glass chandelier…

Stunning.

Jar of Light

Great lighting can set the tone. An interesting piece of lighting can draw the eyes up and creates a focal point in a room.

As we all try and do our bit for our planet, many people (myself included!) have turned to recycling and upcycling furniture and accessories into brilliant items for the home. I really like mason jars and think they make brilliant tea light holders on a table or in the garden and I recently saw an upcycled mason jar chandelier in a restaurant that looked fantastic! You can make the chandelier as big or small as you wish and they give off a really lovely subtle light.
