Whether it’s a scoop of ice cream in your afternoon coffee, metallic pink heeled loafers with your ripped jeans or contrasting colours put with an array of texture, this weeks inspiration has been gained from the idea of putting what perhaps should go, into practice by breaking the boundaries of ‘normal’.
Sometimes I think it’s instinct to tidy everything away and to give items their own place within your home, but this week my inspiration has come from having beauty displayed for all to see. Whether it’s vintage books stacked high on mantlepieces or stunning textiles hung from doors and hooks, such loveliness should be out for you to admire and adore.
Whether it’s fabric, an ornate fire place or brickwork, it’s all graced with texture. I love to run my fingers along textured surfaces and appreciate their form. I have been so inspired recently by the touch and feel of different textures that I have put together a Pinterest board in it’s honour! You can check out the board here…
Happy Friday to you all and I hope you’ve had an inspiring week!
I thought I would expand on today’s usual ‘Friday Four’ of inspiration to show you a few beautiful images that I have found. I love the feminine feel of them all, with their vintage touches of fabrics, details and colourings. I absolutely adore the Parisian restaurant window with it’s gilt gold typography and the view of its stunning wooden bannister! LOVE.
The sun is finally shining in all its magnificent glory and nothing is more inspiring, in my opinion! I love to leave the window open and allow the wind to enter my home, bringing with it the scent from the florals in my window boxes…SWOON.
Happy Friday to you all and I hope you have a lovely, sunny weekend planned!
I believe that we are all responsible for preserving history, and avoiding the effects of becoming a throw away society. With this thought, this weeks inspiration comes from the peeling of wallpaper and what beauty lies beneath. Many people strip the previous paper before hanging the new but these four special images highlight the past lives and people that have lived or worked within the walls that are papered.
My weeks four images are a combination of inspiration and beautiful images for you to take a peek at. I have always been very passionate about mixed media art and feel that it’s such a diverse form of expressing yourself. Whether it’s manipulation fabrics with paint, or photographs with paper, here are a few images which I adore…
My inspirations for this week have come from an array of mediums, but they’re all fused together by their decorative nature. The collections of wooden box-like frames are as artistic and beautiful as they are practical and I love the combination of trinkets which, at first look, appear jumbled but when inspected closer I noticed that each trinket, shell and treasure has it’s place.
My inspiration for this week has heavily lent towards fabrics and their manipulation. I love mixing fabrics that shouldn’t go together but do, and appreciating the bold move to combine what perhaps isn’t considered ‘ordinary’.
The floral fabric against the bold green wall adorned with the ornate mirror & fireplace, the eclectic rugs against the lily pad bathroom and the attention to detail in the pony skin coat and the intricate work of the bird embroidery. All stunning.
