Open

I always think that there is little reason to have possessions if you can’t see them. I think that beauty should be displayed and when things are on show, they also create interest within a room. With this in mind, I am pro open shelving.

What is your view on a well stacked shelf? Do you like to see all on display, or do you prefer to keep items behind closed doors?

Happy Monday!

Clipped

As many of you would have gathered by now, I am a believer of having beauty of display and like to make the most of the simplest of ideas. I have recently been collating ideas for the new abode I think that I will be replacing the traditional cork board for clip boards as a way of having the everyday on display!

I hope you’re all having a lovely week!

Colour Coded

Are you wanting to create a statement wall in your home in just a few hours? A colour blocked wall of books in the way forward! It is a creative twist on the usual library way of sorting your books, and is an eye catching way of creating your own piece of art at home. I love the imp actual effect that such a simple method can have in your home, and I couldn’t think of a lovelier way to spend a Sunday afternoon, than sky high in books!

Pen to Paper

I believe that documenting ones inspirations is an important process to carry out. As with this blog, I look at it very much as my online sketchbook…a place to sort what I find on my travels and collate them in the way of posts. I still like to fuse pen to paper and love to fill my sketchbooks full of fabric cuttings, quotes and other such wordings.

Do you keep a sketchbook? I’d love to hear what inspires you!

To One Side

It doesn’t matter how organised you are or how much storage you have, every so often you just need ‘that place’ to keep items that you need close by but don’t always want out for all to see. That is where the sideboard comes in.

As well as being grand pieces of furniture, the sideboard is perfect for hiding away DVD’s and other such items whilst also adding the perfect space to hold a beautiful vase of flowers and to display your trinkets and treasures.

All Tidy

I always find it a struggle to keep things in my bathroom neat and tidy – so many lotions and potions and limited spaces in which to keep them. I think that storage should be as stylish as it is practical and have come across these recent images as a source of inspiration.

I would love to hear how you have over come your storage dilemmas!

Vignette

Everyone’s home is injected with their own personal style, their likes and loves and I enjoy ‘reading’ the story of people’s personality through the home they live in and how things are placed and arranged.

I recently learnt that the placement of objects on your favourite side board or console table is called ‘Vignetting’ (I just presumed it was homely touches but I’ve now learnt otherwise!).

Do you have a beautifully styled vignettes in your home?

Cut Glass

I’m a girl who’s very fond of her trinkets & treasures, but I’m also just as fond of organisation and being able to find things when I want them! I am on a constant quest to find all my belongings a home and my latest one is cute and practical…

I found this 1930’s cut glass canapés tray in a little antiques shop for £11 and it’s the ideal size to store all my jewellery on my dressing table. Perfect.
