Bygone Era

Stepping into this Parisian apartment is like stepping back into a bygone era. Since 1942, this stunning home has been left untouched by it’s owner Madame de Florian. During World War Two, the socialite left her apartment with the plan to return after the war, but never did. After her death in 2010, the first person to turn the key into this piece of history after 68 years was an auctioneer.

Light/Dark

The union of light and dark is one of my favourite combinations to play with in interiors. It can be dramatic or subtle, dependent on the colour contrast you go for and can be a way of making a real impact in a room, whether it be using paint, wallpaper or fabrics…

Wishing you all a lovely week!

Tap View

Last weekend I had a lovely weekend which consisted of pottering around in the sunshine and visiting some local vintage shop that are near. My find of the weekend has got to be this oil painted bouquet, which proudly sits above the sink in the kitchen. It may not be a window view, but it’s just as beautiful…

Happy Wednesday to you all!

Qualities

These eclectic images have all been playing on my mind this week. Ok, so from first view they have nothing ‘in common’, but with a second glance they all hold texture…from the pleating detail on the luscious pink┬áBalenciaga 1950’s evening wrap, the corrugated material holding the distressed wording or the two dimensional texture created with the pencil, each have their own textural qualities.

Romantic Touch

This weeks inspirations have come from a collection of images, which don’t at first sight link but do all possess a romantic element.

I adore the subtle colours, the precious textures and the calming effect that they bought upon me when I view them….

Details & Fabrics

I thought I would expand on today’s usual ‘Friday Four’ of inspiration to show you a few beautiful images that I have found. I love the feminine feel of them all, with their vintage touches of fabrics, details and colourings. I absolutely adore the Parisian restaurant window with it’s gilt gold typography and the view of its stunning wooden bannister! LOVE.

Mixed Up

My weeks four images are a combination of inspiration and beautiful images for you to take a peek at. I have always been very passionate about mixed media art and feel that it’s such a diverse form of expressing yourself. Whether it’s manipulation fabrics with paint, or photographs with paper, here are a few images which I adore…

Gold Mountain

I adore the eclectic variety of colours and textures in this space. The sofa with its welcoming mountain of cushions with their clashing prints, and the colourful and calming painting in the background encased in its gold gilt frame…

Medium Array

My inspirations for this week have come from an array of mediums, but they’re all fused together by their decorative nature. The collections of wooden box-like frames are as artistic and beautiful as they are practical and I love the combination of trinkets which, at first look, appear jumbled but when inspected closer I noticed that each trinket, shell and treasure has it’s place.
