Two things seem to have appeared a lot this week, those being gilt mirrors and vintage tiles. It has been a weekend of vintage shops and antique fairs and although I bought little home (for once!), there was lots of beautiful things to see.
I have been hunting out old tiles for a few months now to go in our kitchen that is finally being done in January. Victorian tiles will go above the Aga, like a higgledy-piggledy jigsaw of odd pieces. 24 down, 4 to go.
Vintage birdy imagery, light and nature have all played a part in this weeks inspirations. The arrival of glorious sunshine has left me with the need to update my workshop and this weekend shall be spent with ‘Brilliant White’ emulsion. Watch this space.
I’ve always liked the idea of creating a comfortable nook, somewhere that you can escape in a book or in something creative. I am planning on making such a corner in our kitchen soon, along with a bookcase of cookery books and a lit side table where I can generally mooch about at the weekend with a coffee.
Here are a few spaces that have caught my eye on my visual adventures, granted not all are kitchen friendly, but they are just beautiful it would be rude not to share…
Whether it’s a scoop of ice cream in your afternoon coffee, metallic pink heeled loafers with your ripped jeans or contrasting colours put with an array of texture, this weeks inspiration has been gained from the idea of putting what perhaps should go, into practice by breaking the boundaries of ‘normal’.
I think I could have happily spend many a lazy Sunday morning in this luscious bedroom! I love the white walls and it’s stark contrast to the vibrant bedspread and patterned cushions, and the gilt touches introduced to the boudoir from the full length mirror and minimal frames upon the back wall.
The sun is finally shining in all its magnificent glory and nothing is more inspiring, in my opinion! I love to leave the window open and allow the wind to enter my home, bringing with it the scent from the florals in my window boxes…SWOON.
Happy Friday to you all and I hope you have a lovely, sunny weekend planned!
The sun is shining and we’re about to embark on a three day weekend, and for this reason I am going to divert away from my weekly ‘Friday Four’ to bring you a little outdoor inspiration.
As soon as the sun comes out, I love to enjoy this time of the year with family and friends in a beautiful park or garden. To get you all in the Bank Holiday mood, here are a few stunning outdoor party ideas…
Recently I have been craving a city break. I love the adventure of a long weekend, soaking up the culture of other beautiful cities and the architecture and attractions they offer. There is nothing more relaxing than long strolls along cobbled streets, long lunches and visits to art galleries and historical sites.
My desire for a weekend away has led me to collate a Pinterest page dedicated to the beauty of city life in the eyes of a tourist. To view more lovely cities, visit our Whisk me Away page…
This is the perfect weekend to sink into a comfy corner in your home and get lost in the pages of a stack of books. Colourful velvet fabrics with button detailing and make sure that you’re accompanied by subtle cocktails. Can you think of anything better?
