Two years ago today Hana & George was put together on my sofa. The idea was to create somewhere that I could document all the images and ideas that inspire me as a visual keepsake. This blog runs along side my work as an upholsterer and I love the community that my ‘online sketchbook’ has attracted, it is lovely to find others who love what I love.
Thank to you all for your support & comments over the past two years, it has been a journey that I look forward to carrying on with you all and hope others continue to join along the way…
When glass is made into festive decorations and candle holders and the light reflects off its surface, the shades created are magical. I love to decorate my tree and mantlepiece with glass items as they have a beautiful way of looking different at different times of the day and, above all, they tend to be adaptable each year when colour schemes change.
I love to admire finer details and at this time of the year, with the festive spirit in full swing, I probably find the small things more impactual than the grander gestures.
Whether it be the tiny sequins formed upon your dress to create a pattern or the winter blooms upon your place settings, the best way to make a memorable experience for yourself and your guests this Christmas is to focus on the little stuff. I’m looking forward to making individual place settings for each of my family for Christmas and decking my halls with one off unique finds that I have picked up out and about.
I would love to hear your Christmas ideas this year!
I absolutely love the count down to Christmas and can’t resist an advent calendar, especially when they’re handmade with love and thought. I love these two ideas of hanging the little packages with twine from a branch and personalising each day with it’s own design.
Today is the first birthday of the Hana & George blog!
This year has simply flown by and I am still appreciative to everyone who follows and reads my little ‘visual sketchbook’ for their lovely words and support along my creative journey. It is flattering to know that what started out as a personal documentation, is now a source of inspiration and creativity, not just for myself, but for others too!
A million thank you’s and I hope that the Hana & George blog is somewhere that you’ll continue to visit and love…
As you’re all getting prepared to welcome in a new year in style and setting resolutions to achieve in 2013, I’d like to wish you all a happy and prosperous year ahead. I hope 2013 holds fun, laughter and joy for you all and I look forward to continuing to develop this blog with posts that not only inspire you, but bring a smile.
I can’t resist a room that offers the ‘wow factor’ from the moment that you enter the room, and this collection of images definitely caught my eye! I think Christmas is the ideal opportunity to inject your personality and to add decoration that makes the month of December not just memorable, but special.
Whether you fire a touch of neon into your festive celebration with neon wrapped candles or adorn your tree with baubles of shocking hues, here is a little inspiration to get you in the colourful mood…
There is nothing more satisfying than creating a well laid table for festive parties. When out walking, it’s easy to pick up inspiration for styling the perfect table, and vases of winter foliage dotted along the centre of the table or fallen branches can add instant glamour to the setting.
I love to tie ribbon to the stems of wine glasses and roll napkins up with brown string – all of these touches are inexpensive to achieve and can be used over again, what ever time of year.
