Two

Two years ago today Hana & George was put together on my sofa. The idea was to create somewhere that I could document all the images and ideas that inspire me as a visual keepsake. This blog runs along side my work as an upholsterer and I love the community that my ‘online sketchbook’ has attracted, it is lovely to find others who love what I love.

Thank to you all for your support & comments over the past two years, it has been a journey that I look forward to carrying on with you all and hope others continue to join along the way…

Wishing you all a lovely Friday

Plated

So, I have decided to start collecting plates. Any shapes, size, colour and design and I’m going to proudly display them in my home. I’ve always been attracted to ceramics and the beautiful designs and colours that have spanned the decades, and constantly come across one of plates on my travels. Watch this space…

Happy Friday to you lovely lot, too!

Weathered

As soon as the sun shines, whatever the temperature, I have a desire to instantly be outside. As the nights have become lighter and the days of sunshine are becoming a reality I have been gathering inspiration for my garden seating area. I want the space to be relaxing, comfortable and to also merge into its alfresco surroundings…

Cornered

I’ve always liked the idea of creating a comfortable nook, somewhere that you can escape in a book or in something creative. I am planning on making such a corner in our kitchen soon, along with a bookcase of cookery books and a lit side table where I can generally mooch about at the weekend with a coffee.

Here are a few spaces that have caught my eye on my visual adventures, granted not all are kitchen friendly, but they are just beautiful it would be rude not to share…

Art Array

What is there not to like about a wall adorned with art, hung in a ‘higgledy-piggledy’ manner? Whether there is a theme to the collection of works, or just an array of mediums and influences, I think that this way of displaying art is not only visually pleasing but can be a constant work in progress, build more and more over time from vintage market and charity shops finds.

LOVE.

Hearty Home

They always say that the kitchen is the heart of any home and because of this, I always feel that kitchens should be as practical as they are visual treat. We’re in the process of collating ideas for the kitchen in our new home and I want something that is light and airy, whilst also being the perfect combination of style and substance.

Here are a few images that have been inspiring me for ideas for our new kitchen…

Deck the Halls

When glass is made into festive decorations and candle holders and the light reflects off its surface, the shades created are magical. I love to decorate my tree and mantlepiece with glass items as they have a beautiful way of looking different at different times of the day and, above all, they tend to be adaptable each year when colour schemes change.

Happy Friday!

Merry

I have been fighting the urge since mid-November to start the festive posts, and now that December has graced us with it’s presence I can now roll out the inspirations!

Here’s a little taster of the beauty that I’ve been collating over the past few months and more can be seen on our Festive Beauty Pinterest page.

Wishing you all a lovely week!

Bloom Injection

I love to adorn my home with fresh flowers, especially at this time of year when the flowers and plants that grace gardens are beginning to tuck themselves away for the winter.

Flowers are the perfect ‘pick me up’ for any sideboard or table, and is an easy way of injecting colour into a room. I like to place my blooms in irregular vases, upon books and shelves.

Happy Monday!

Clipped

As many of you would have gathered by now, I am a believer of having beauty of display and like to make the most of the simplest of ideas. I have recently been collating ideas for the new abode I think that I will be replacing the traditional cork board for clip boards as a way of having the everyday on display!

I hope you’re all having a lovely week!
