Highlight

With the clocks going forward this weekend, I feel as though the last few months have just flown by! I’m looking forward to longer days and fresh flowers from the garden, burst of colour in my home highlighted by the daylight shining through the windows and opened toed shoes…rock n’ roll, I know.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Chintz

In my eyes, there is no such things as too much chintz! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know this to be a true fact. Whether it’s a new item of floral clothing or a vintage Sanderson fabric, I am like a magpie to the colourful and ditsy blooms.

Happy Friday!

Layer

These three images have been an inspiration to me lately and I find the use of layers in each image interesting. Whether it’s laying clothing and mixing clashing colours, overlapping of mediums on a canvas or adding interest to a room by taking something ordinary and adding to it.

Happy Wednesday to you all!

Qualities

These eclectic images have all been playing on my mind this week. Ok, so from first view they have nothing ‘in common’, but with a second glance they all hold texture…from the pleating detail on the luscious pink Balenciaga 1950’s evening wrap, the corrugated material holding the distressed wording or the two dimensional texture created with the pencil, each have their own textural qualities.

1947

I have always been interested in print making and one day, it is something that I would like to learn how to do. What is more personal that a fabric that has not only been designed by yourself but also printed by your own fair hands?

As soon as I saw this image of factory workers printing in 1947, that I had to share it with you. Even though printing techniques have been modernised nowadays, I love the team work and attention to detail that the ladies would have had to commit to to create lengths of cloth, with each batch being unique due to the nature in which they were printed back in the day….

Floralistic

As I look out the window, the rain is coming down thick and fast and I’m finding myself looking forward to the warmth and colour that Spring brings. I always try to flood (no pun intended!) my wardrobe, home & garden with the brights and florals that remind me of the season as a way to perk up my winter hibernation!

Structure

Over the festive period, I spent a lot of time browsing around in books, magazines and online at imagery and articles. With that, I thoughts I would kick off my first January post with a few images that influenced me. All of the images are different and they don’t all tie together but they all have attention to detail in common – the craftsmanship that has gone into creating every item is stunning.

Happy Monday to you all!

Full Swing

I love to admire finer details and at this time of the year, with the festive spirit in full swing, I probably find the small things more impactual than the grander gestures.

Whether it be the tiny sequins formed upon your dress to create a pattern or the winter blooms upon your place settings, the best way to make a memorable experience for yourself and your guests this Christmas is to focus on the little stuff. I’m looking forward to making individual place settings for each of my family for Christmas and decking my halls with one off unique finds that I have picked up out and about.

I would love to hear your Christmas ideas this year!

Checked

My inspiration from this week has come from the beauty that is the checked fabric. Whether cotton, linen or wool, I adore the impact that it makes. Whether it is a simple check or more of a plaid, our interiors and wardrobes should be graced with this lined loveliness.

Happy Friday!
